New England Winter

Sorry, due to the crappy New England winter I have taken a few months off. I also figured that once I posted once everyone would leave me alone, but that hasn't happened. So the pictures pretty much say it all for the last couple of months. It has been one of the worst winters up here in years. Amanda said that's our sign that we need to move back. She says we shouldn't punish these poor people anymore:) It all started in December with an ice storm that knocked out power to most of Massachusetts and the southern part of New Hampshire. We lost power for two days, but there were people out of power until Christmas. We did invest in a generator, and so far we haven't had to use it. We got another pretty good snow storm the Sunday before Christmas which caused them to cancel church. We have had a couple of snow storms in January and we have had church cancelled twice more in January. That definitely makes my calling much easier!
We had a wonderful Christmas with my mom, Brent and Angela coming to visit. They were able to come for a week and it really made it much easier to be so far from everyone for Christmas. I also started Esthetics school in November and I really love it and am always looking forward to all of the fun stuff I get to do when i'm in school. It's really hard to go to school and get facials, pedicures, waxing etc...all in the name of schooling. I should be able to take my state boards sometime this fall and then i'll go back to work part time.
The kids are all adjusting well in school, but it has been a pretty big adjustment. We miss our friends and family in Colorado soooooo much!

Pumpkin carving 2008

So this is my first posting! Yes I know it's a long time coming for all of you who have been telling me to get with it. I was a little intimidated at the prospect, but after taking Angela's suggestion and just sitting down with it for a few hours I think i'm beginning to understand it. I love reading everyone else's blogs, so I hope I can keep up with mine and at least make it interesting! Lynn has to travel to New Jersey this week so last night was the only night we could carve pumpkins before Halloween. Out here most towns trick or treat on the 30th and when I ask why the only answer I get is that it cuts down on pranks....whatever that means! So anyways Lynn will have to miss trick or treating because he didn't know when he booked his trip that they did that out here, so needless to say he was a little upset. The city of Portsmouth has a Halloween parade on Halloween that I think we are going to try and go to. So most of our pumpkins were pretty traditional except for Amanda's who had to carve Jack from the Nightmare before Christmas. She painted it white and then had the black outline of his eyes, nose and mouth. I thoughy it was a little creepy, but Amanda likes things like that.
